I need to find a way home.
My mind will not let me rest.

2005 bits
2005 is intimidating. I started a great many things, which sounds impressive unless you know the legacy my father has left me regarding things left undone. Genetics. So I've created a bit of a pitfall for myself, complete with snakes, traps and a well-dug hole somewhere left of my pinole gland.

A contact of a very close friend has guided my first kids' book attempt. I'm eternally grateful for the contact but alas - the journey is destined to be a slow one, and to say I'm an impatient person is quite an understatement, (rat-chewed rope over quicksand).

2005 also saw Mars closer to Earth than ever, which I suspect had an osmosis-like effect on my creativity and spawned a new hobby of making masks. Maskmaking rules. My mentor of editing even got into it, causing me to believe that all editors are secretly mask makers. A contact from work got me two (up and coming) gallery showings at the Sobieski-Mendenhall Gallery in Pasadena, CA - slated to happen sometime in 2006, (Cobra basket with broken flute).

My friend - The Folk Hero -redeemed himself in stellar fashion as well. 2005 saw the 10th anniversary of his Halloween party, which was the best so far, especially after 3 years of soggy jackolanterns... C'mon Folk Hero, send me the footage so all can relive the spooky goodness, (finally some bread and ale).

What a jerk, all me-me-me-me and I forgot to mention that Aaron was born! This list has no order of importance (Obviously) - and, in my defense - most wouldn't want to start reading a section if it appeared to be a father's pride-infused writings about his boys. Aaron is quite a cutie. If you haven't seen him and Alex together, you're REALLY missing some good times, (a nap on a soft blanket too?!?!).

Boardgames took off again in 2005. Back in 1997 I made about 4 games, one of which, Giza - proved quite popular. I took it as far as I could on my waiter salary, before shelfing it. Well, it's back, (thanks to Eric Lutes) and I'm anxiously awaiting an answer from the invisible powers that claim to be able to get it on store shelves soon, (an exotic girl in a compromising position - demateralizing due to too much scorpion venom).

My voice got a shot at stardom in 2005. My boss and a few others recommended I try Voice Over acting - after hearing my various attempts at it over the years. So I took a class or two and have a demo being cut as I write this. Hopefully this turns out to be the real thing. It would be awesome to have my boys hear their Daddy's voice on their favorite cartoons, (canteen full of dust).

My wife, (quite a sultry beast in her own right) - did the impossible in 2005. She graduated from court-reporting school. THIS IS NO SMALL FEAT. The entire profession intimidates me to no end. But she rules supreme, and put the smack down on all those courtrooms out there and became a "Certified Shorthand Reporter" CSR#13067!!! CONGRATULATIONS SWEETIE! YOU ROCK,(using large-coned leaf to funnel water from rainstorm into empty canteen).

So I end this review, I'm sure I forgot way too much stuff, but it has to end sometime. I don't believe in resolutions, but I do believe in quotes, and my quote for 2005 is:

"I think in UNITS."
