Surrounded by Geniuses

gen·ius
1 a Extraordinary intellectual and creative power.
b A person of extraordinary intellect and talent: “One is not born a genius, one becomes a genius” (Simone de Beauvoir).

It seems I'm blessed.

I have an amazing family as well as friends - who are one and the same. My mother, who many know as "Lonnie Marsh" was struck one evening during a scrabble game - at the collective intelligence my circle of friends had...(Excluding my spelling;)

This got me thinking. Well humans are always thinking, so I guess it'd be more accurate to say that 'This got me focused on the topic of my friends.' So what did I come up with? Well...that's enough for a book all by itself. I hope to get to each of you in turn, but for now, I'm simplifying the genius that all of you are.

In an order known only by me -

Eric Lutes - Visual arts. When this artist dies, he'll be more famous than Van Gogh...I'm hoping he doesn't have to die to see that happen.

Donald Thompson - Stories. My brother and "Brains of the family," - most have no idea how good a storyteller he is.

Amy Marsden - Languages. Amy is quite a natural at learning any form of communication. Of course I think she's a genius ...I married her!

Tom DiGiurco - Graphic Arts, but mostly human. What do I mean? I can't quite frame it...but he is a genius at being. Constantly improving himself - an inspiration in perpetual study.

Randy Tibbetts - Patience. I can't think of someone more "Cool under fire" than Randy. Whenever life gets you down, remember Randy's eternal smile - and if you listen to his teachings, you just might hear the theme from Goonies echoing in the distance.

Jason Tibbetts - History. Big surprise to those that know him. Jason's good at pretty much everything, and if he says he sucks, it means he's a master of said subject/topic and could also teach it at a professionals level.

Trevor Bailey - Knowledge. If "Book smart" had a footnote, it'd be this guy. Thinking outside the box is nice and all...but if your inside the box (where 90% of life seems to happen) - you want this guy around...he even comes with a deluxe map!

Chris Thompson - Culinary Arts & Rescuer. From early on Chris saved many lives. His generosity is saint-worthy. A great guide - my oldest brother and hero.

Linda (Lonnie Marsh) Marsden - Giving. An inexhaustible source of advice, nourishment and love. If reincarnation exists, then a hell of a lot of amazing people simultaneously died on December 27th.

Aaron Molho - Music. I know many, many musicians. But when this guy sings a song, angels punch themselves in the face.

Christopher Uchman - Entrepreneur. For those of you that don't know of Douglas Castle, this is the brains behind it. I can't imagine tackling a project so vast and endless...

Paul Grasshoff - Clarity. Paul serves as my Southern California anchor and might possibly be able to beat Randy in a patience/staring contest. His patience is so patient...that I named it "Natience."

Paul Grizard - Troubleshooting. This is no easy category to be a genius at...as any that know Paul "CYBER McGUYVER" Grizard will tell you. I've seen him troubleshoot technology for 30 hours at one sitting. Instead of growing angry and fedup...his eyes grew childhood-wonder-sauce with each setback...he loves solving technological issues.

James Best - Laughter.
